An Adaptable Wet Underfloor Heating System
The EasyStandard underfloor heating system is the most popular system we install for properties with solid floors. In the EasyStandard, pipes lie on top of a thick layer of concrete floor insulation, encased within self-compacting concrete or liquid screed – minimising heat loss and facilitating optimal thermal output.
Using CAD design software, we calculate the optimal amount of concrete floor insulation and liquid screed to achieve energy-efficient heating. Thickness can be increased or reduced, depending on how much floor height build-up is desired. Pipe spacing can be reduced or increased depending on the heat loss of the building and the water temperature being supplied by the heat source.
We use high-quality FRÄNKISCHE wet underfloor heating pipes – which come with a 100-year warranty – and offer our own 2-year workmanship guarantee, allowing you to be confident in the longevity of your EasyStandard system.
Works Best With Heat Pumps
One of the major benefits of the EasyStandard system is its compatibility with low-temperature heat sources, such as ground or air source heat pumps. The system is also compatible (and optimal) with thermal storage heat sources such as solar-water and biomass boilers.
Upgrading your heat source or moving away from a boiler? EasyFlow are capable of installing an air-source heat pump as part of our full-service installation.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I have Suspended Wooden Floors?
The EasyStandard System can be used in conjunction with our other underfloor heating systems. The low-profile EasyBacker and purpose-built EasyJoist heating system are both suitable for suspended wooden floors.
What if I have Uneven Floors or Multiple Elevations?
The level of concrete floor insulation and liquid screed can be adjusted for changes in elevation. We are highly experienced in concrete floor refurbishment and adapting projects to compensate for old and worn concrete.
What Screed Does EasyFlow Use?
We use many different screed products, from anhydrite liquid screeds to more traditional self-compacting concrete, depending on the needs of the project. Liquid screeds can be laid much thinner than traditional screeds, usually allowing a minimum of 55mm.
How Thick is Floor Insulation for Underfloor Heating?
The thickness varies depending on building regulations and the type of insulation used. However, a good rule of thumb is to allow 50mm for a PIR insulation board. Low-profile underfloor heating uses as little as 17mm.
How is the EasyStandard Installed?
First, the subfloor is prepared, and a damp-proof membrane is installed. At this point the concrete floor insulation is laid with a vapour barrier installed on top. The wet underfloor heating are affixed using barbed clip pushed into the insulation from a clip gun.
Once the pipework and manifold has been installed and pressure tested, the screed is laid. THis will be walkable within 48hrs, and our installer will advise you when the screed is sufficiently dry to lay floor finishes to finish your concrete floor refurbishment.
