Liquid Screed Shropshire, Shrewsbury Food Hub

Brief

The Shrewsbury Food Hub is an umbrella group for charities and projects in Shrewsbury/Shropshire who can benefit from donations of surplus food from local companies.

The charity contacted EasyFlow to assist with floor levelling and liquid screed for an existing floor at a commercial premise for use as a new food hub.

Key Considerations

Our liquid screed Shropshire team had to make good a well-worn concrete subfloor with concrete screed. The floor had been painted over several times in the past with a red oxide paint, which needed to be removed before floor levelling could begin.

If not removed sufficiently, the concrete screed wouldn’t properly bond with the subfloor, which could create potential weaknesses or crack if the client built directly on the screed.

What We Achieved.

Our liquid screed Shropshire installers first stripped then sanded the existing floor to take off any remaining red oxide paint. Tt was then primed using an acrylic primer before installing a layer of ultra-thin flowing concrete screed at a depth of 15mm.

It bonded well with the subfloor and dried to a smooth and robust finish. Shrewsbury Food Hub were satisfied with the floor levelling project and eventually will expand into this location when it dries. We even got a mention in the news article detailing the expansion!
