Underfloor Heating and Liquid Screed Installation for Luxury Lodges

In 2024, we were commissioned to complete an underfloor heating and liquid screed package in a luxury lodge. Kingfisher Forge has recently opened for bookings and is situated within the countryside village of Norton in Hales, Shropshire, offering luxurious accommodation with a contemporary, open-plan living area.

Project Details

Underfloor heating was the perfect choice for this modern home. Our underfloor heating installers fitted 11 zones of pipework across 200sqm of the property; each zone can be individually controlled to provide a flexible and sustainable heating solution, while creating ultimate comfort with even warmth underfoot. As demonstrated here at Kingfisher Forge, underfloor heating is ideally suited for luxury living spaces, eliminating the need for radiators and allowing interior designers to create a sleek, minimalist aesthetic.

Following the pipework fitting, our floor screeders installed Gyvlon Eco Liquid Screed. This environmentally-friendly anhydrite screed has a 90% reduction in carbon content compared to other pumped floor screed alternatives, which helps to improve the efficiency of the underfloor heating system. It does so by flowing around the pipework for optimal thermal conductivity and consistent heat distribution for the best possible performance.

We finished the project with our screed sanding service. Removing laitance from screed is an essential step before applying final floor finishes; laitance is a fine layer of particles that develops on top of the screed as it dries, creating an uneven texture. Sanding not only ensures a high-quality, smooth surface but also prevents any floor adhesives from failing during the installation of tiles or laminate.

Gyvlon Eco Liquid Screed is also compatible with a range of floor coverings, with Kingfisher Forge opting for a mix of carpet, wooden flooring and parquet throughout the property.
