Holiday Lodges in Delamere Forest

Brief

Forest Holidays UK is a holiday park company that offers lodges and cabins built in forests across the country. We were contracted to take part in the construction of 66 new build holiday lodges in the heart of Delamere Forest, Cheshire.

The underfloor heating had already been laid, and the company wanted our liquid screeders to lay self compacting concrete for their lodge foundations. Our underfloor heating Manchester team were tasked to carry out this project.

Key Considerations

Access was restricted due to the nature of the site. All paths were off-road, narrow, and very muddy; which was unsuitable for standard mixer trucks. Delivering the self compacting concrete screed would require detailed planning and logistics for each section of the holiday park.

As this was a major commercial construction project for 66 buildings, there was a tight deadline for the provision and laying of the screed. We had less than a month to complete our section of work, necessitating a target to be set for the number of plots to screed per site visit.

What We Achieved

We sent one of our underfloor heating Manchester representatives to evaluate the access issues, as this was the most important hurdle to cross in order to deliver the self compacting concrete in a timely manner. We were able to arrange mini mix deliveries to supply our liquid screeders with the materials they needed to cover the underfloor heating pipes.

Approximately 15m³ of screed was laid by our liquid screeders each visit. To ensure we met deadlines, we strived to cover an average of 4 plots per visit. This was the optimal number to ensure the quality of our work was not compromised.

In just over two weeks, all 66 holiday lodges had their underfloor heating fully covered without complications, and were ready to be built upon within days of the screed drying.
